FAQ
Answered before you ask
These come up in nearly every first call. Answering them here saves us both a conversation.
You are a small firm. What happens if you are unavailable, and can you handle our scale?
Scale comes from one senior owner across four disciplines, which replaces a coordination problem rather than a headcount problem. On integration work we deliver, the hands are scoped and staffed explicitly. On governance work, the integrator supplies them. Either way the scope is set against what we can actually staff, and we say so before taking it on.
Why not just use our integrator?
Often you should, and we will work alongside them. The gap is not competence: it is that the integrator usually defines the scope, grades their own work, and leaves after handoff. The question is who is protecting the plant’s definition of done. Where it makes more sense for us to deliver the controls ourselves, we do that too — that is the Systems Integration service.
We already have a vendor for this. Are you asking us to switch?
No. Keep them. The work is making sure their deliverable is the right one and that the plant can support it afterward. Independence is what makes that possible.
How is this different from hiring a contractor?
A contractor executes a scope you have already defined. We start one step earlier: working out whether the scope is right, then owning the outcome through execution and handoff.
We do not have budget for consulting.
It usually exists already, as project contingency or engineering. The comparison is not consulting fees against zero. It is a defined cost now against rework, schedule slip and an unsupportable system later.
What does an engagement typically look like?
Most start with a focused review or assessment: a short, scoped piece of work that establishes what is actually happening and what should happen next. That is the first stage of taking control, not a sales exercise.
Which platforms do you work with?
Primarily Rockwell and Siemens on controls, Ignition for SCADA and MES, and a range of OT networking and edge hardware. The full stack is on the Technologies page. Platform choice follows the situation, not a partnership.
Do you take commissions from vendors?
No. No relationship pays a commission, a referral fee, or a share of licence revenue. Every vendor relationship is disclosed on the Partners page.
Have a project that needs technical ownership?
Send us the situation. If it is not something we should take on, we will say so.
